Dear Narragansett School Families,

Narragansett School is participating in the district Lip Dub challenge. (A~lip dub~is a type of music video that combines~lip~synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. The video is made by filming a group of people~lip~synching and then dubbing over it, in post editing, with the original audio of the song.) To see an example of a finished lip dub, from Gorham Middle School, please click here.  As you will see, the Lip Dub experience is an opportunity for us to build school spirit and a sense of pride within the community.

The song that has been selected for NarragansettĂs Lip Dub is, “Be True to Your School.”  The Gorham Code of Conduct will be highlighted as the central theme of the video.  All staff and students will take part in the Lip Dub Challenge, provided we have parental permission for videotaping on file (this would have been completed as part of the first day of school packet).  We will have a school-wide practice for the Lip Dub on Monday, November 21st in preparation for the final taping on Tuesday, November 22nd (at 2:00).

We invite all students to wear maroon and white (or a Gorham t-shirt) for the final taping on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 22nd. Students, at some of the grade levels, will be wearing “badges” that they have made in the classroom: one for each of the characteristics in our Code of Conduct (i.e. a heart for compassion).  Other students will be carrying props that align with the Code of Conduct. Classroom teachers will notify you regarding what costume/prop your son/daughter may be wearing/holding. The props, including posters, will be made at school.

There is a list of students, housed in the main office, whose parents prefer their childĂs picture not be made available to the public. As Narragansett School honors all these requests, these students will not be participating in the Lip Dub challenge, unless otherwise requested in writing by the parent/guardian. If any additional parents prefer their child not to take part in the videotaping and posting of the Lip Dub (on the internet), please notify our office in writing by Monday, November 21. Those students not participating in the Lip Dub will complete a fun activity in a supervised classroom.

Thank you to Cathy LaRochelle and Gael Ketch for coordinating this community building event for our Narragansett students!  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Remick
